Overview
You know what, stepping into Hotel Stefanie in Vienna is like walking into a history book. Tucked away on Taborstraße 12, in the heart of Leopoldstadt, this four-star gem is Vienna’s oldest hotel, boasting a rating of 9. Honestly, the moment you step in, you can feel the rich history seeping through its walls.
The location is pretty spot on. It’s just a stone’s throw from the Prater, the iconic amusement park and those famous Giant Ferris Wheels. You can hear the faint sounds of laughter and screams of thrill from the park, especially during the summer months when it’s bustling. The hotel is also a short stroll from the U-Bahn station, making it a breeze to explore the city’s many charms. Parking, though, can be a bit tricky – you might want to consider public transport or a taxi to avoid the hassle.
What makes Hotel Stefanie special is its blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. The rooms are cozy, with high ceilings and a sort of vintage elegance that’s hard to find these days. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the bathrooms are sleek and modern. I mean, the attention to detail in the decor is impressive – from the antique furniture to the crisp, white linens. The staff, well, they’re the real deal. They’re friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely seem to care about your experience.
If you’re a foodie, don’t miss out on their breakfast. It’s a spread that’ll make your mouth water – local cheeses, fresh bread, and a variety of meats and spreads. Honestly, it’s the perfect way to start your day exploring Vienna. The hotel also has a quiet, tucked-away bar that’s perfect for a nightcap after a long day of sightseeing.
In terms of timing, I’d say spring and early fall are the best times to visit. The weather is pleasant, and the city is less crowded than in the peak of summer. But honestly, Vienna is a year-round destination, and Hotel Stefanie is a cozy retreat no matter when you visit.
So, if you’re looking for a place that feels like a home away from home, with a touch of history and a whole lot of heart, Hotel Stefanie is your spot. It’s not just a hotel; it’s an experience.

Guest Reviews
Great location, friendly staff, short walk to metro
The Hotel commands status without being showy - as they say, class is permanent. Staff were professional but friendly, the room was clean and elegant, whilst offering modern amenities. The food was excellent - hearty breakfast and beautiful evening meal.
The decor was elegant and very pretty.
Beautiful hotel. We loved the old style decor and especially how the hotel was decorated for Christmas. All staff were very welcoming and friendly. Room was very nice with everything we needed. It is slightly outside the main areas but we preferred this as it was very busy and it's only a 10min walk away. Breakfast was very nice with lots of choice. Would definitely recommend.
Absolutely loved this hotel. Excellent facilities, staff. Location. Concierge scored me concert tickets day of the concert. Close to hop on off stop, close to shopping district. Champagne breakfast buffet with fantastic selections. Loved everything about this place. They even provided free chocolate box. Definite do over.
The room was quite large considering the price and the location. The mattresses were firm but not hard (perfect). The bathroom was spacious too. Best of all - the breakfast was great. There were plenty of options and it was hosted in what looked like a tiny ballroom with portraits of Austrian royalty on the walls and extremely smart waiters and waitresses busing the tables efficiently.
Very clean, helpful staff, breakfast was wonderful!
Safe area, staff who cared, you can walk to everything
We were there over the weekend that Storm Boris hit and spent rather more time in the hotel than we had intended. However, every minute was worth it - the bar and restaurant were excellent, the staff superb - and my wife received an unexpected surprise on her birthday with a bottle of chilled sekt, a generous piece of sachertorte and a warmly composed congratulatory letter from the Hotel Manager.
Great breakfast. Very accessible location
